The clients had an existing drive with little colour and no welcoming feeling. After a site visit and much discussion a design was drawn up.

The client had a ‘wish list’ of how they would like it to be and had a list of materials they would like to be used in the construction. Stephen and I then worked out from a practical point of view as to how to construct it, taking into account that it had to carry traffic.
We needed to add some height so the idea of the monolith was born. A quick trip up to the local slate quarry and there, as if by ‘magic’ was just what our client needed. Once that was put into place we could then start laying the reclaimed granite setts to form the paths and driveway edges. Next was the green oak pergola, which entailed a trip to the local saw mill with some measurements and a design. Once erected, the bespoke structure is ready to grow some climbing plants over and add some colour.
As the job developed so did our clients imagination, the next area to work on was the front door. Three different colours of sett made up the design. This then drew your focus toward the door.
Two different types of gravel were needed, local blue slate for the footpaths and then a green granite for the parking area’s. A natural slate patio was also incorporated in the corner for a seating area to enjoy the fantastic view.
Applying the finishing touches and final details is just as important, so that we can ensure everything is just as it should be.
Now the clients have a driveway and garden with a great ‘welcome home’ and a ‘WOW’ factor.
